Your Prayer Has Been Heard

“…your prayer has been heard.” – Luke 1:13

This is what Gabriel said to Zechariah when he appeared to Zechariah in the temple. “The prayer that you prayed long ago has been heard.” Gabriel was announcing to Zechariah the birth of a son. This was wonderful news – almost too good to be true. You see, Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth had were old and had no children (Luke 1:7). The answer to their prayer was here at last.

I wonder how long they prayed before they received this answer. Perhaps they had not even prayed for children in a long time. Yet God finally answers them.

The answer to their prayer goes far beyond anything they could have possibly imagined. Their son was to fulfill prophesy (Isaiah 40:3 and Malachi 4:5-6) and be the forerunner of the Messiah! They could have asked for no greater honor. God did immeasurably more than all they could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). God can do the same for you.

He still answers prayer today. But sometimes it requires being patient and waiting on His timing. He knows all things. He knows what the best answer to your prayer is. Even when He doesn’t seem to be answering your prayer, trust that He has a better plan for you than answering your prayer right now. Have faith, God has heard.
